The Ministry of Labor (MOL) has urged all companies and workers to proactively begin the procedures for obtaining the Professional Classification Certificate and the Professional Practice License at least one to two months before the expiry of the expatriate worker's residence card or the Omani worker's employment contract.

This is in line with previous announcements issued for each sector, to ensure timely verification and issuance, and to avoid any penalties from other competent authorities.

An early action is important to avoid administrative delays and financial penalties, ensure smooth contract renewals, business continuity, and enhance company and worker readiness in line with professional accreditation requirements.

The decision to regulate the labour market and streamline the practice of several professional activities took effect on September 1. The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has issued a warning to individuals and companies against submitting forged vocational classification and licensing certificates, as several cases of document falsification have been uncovered.

The ministry will maintain strict oversight of training institutes and assessment centres authorised to evaluate and licence professions requiring vocational classification. Any licences or certifications not officially approved by the ministry will be considered invalid.

Those found guilty of submitting forged documents will face legal action in accordance with existing regulations.
