SALALAH: The Third International Conference on Kidney Diseases and Transplantation, which concluded on Saturday in Salalah, recommended enhancing multidisciplinary collaboration and adopting a patient-centred healthcare approach, while implementing evidence-based treatment protocols to improve dialysis outcomes and vascular management.
Conference participants emphasised the importance of supporting continuing education, training programmes, and scientific exchange, and encouraging joint research and innovation in the fields of prevention and early detection of kidney disease.
The conference also called for launching community awareness campaigns to reduce risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, developing sustainable health policies that promote organ donation programmes, and establishing national registries to track the outcomes of kidney disease and transplantation, thus contributing to improving the quality of healthcare in the long term.
Approximately 250 medical and paramedical staff from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman participated in the three-day conference.
