Dhofar media chief hails Khareef 2025 coverage, credits minister’s direct oversight

SALALAH: Dr Mohammed Al-Sha’shai, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Information in Dhofar, has thanked Oman’s media sector for its 'professional and responsible' coverage of Khareef Dhofar 2025, saying the season’s communications success reflected close institutional co-ordination and sustained field effort.

“The colleagues who worked across traditional and digital platforms delivered reporting that showcased the natural and human beauty of Dhofar and presented a worthy image of the Sultanate to audiences at home and abroad,” Dr Al-Sha’shai told the Oman Observer.

He thanked Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, for his continuous support, direct oversight of team readiness, and close follow-up throughout the season’s coverage.
He also thanked Mohammed Al-Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, for enabling field teams and ensuring operational requirements were in place — support that, he said, “lifted the quality and responsiveness of our media output.”

Dr Al-Sha’shai commended the Ministry’s teams for a “sustained, co-ordinated effort” across newsrooms, OB vans, social platforms and public-facing content, noting that public bodies, editors, independent creators, photographers and volunteers together formed an integrated support network. “This was teamwork at scale, and it showed in the consistency and credibility of the message,” he said.

The Director-General underlined that the results went beyond event coverage to enhance Oman’s positive image and strengthen Dhofar’s profile as a year-round destination. With the monsoon season winding down, he said the Directorate will maintain active coordination with media partners as the governorate transitions to post-Khareef programming, ensuring continued visibility for tourism, culture, and community initiatives.

“Khareef Dhofar 2025 is a collective achievement,” Dr Al-Sha’shai said. “Guided by the Minister’s direction and the Undersecretary’s follow-up, we will double down on this momentum in the seasons ahead.”
