MUSCAT: Oman Post has officially launched the National Digital Mailbox service through a strategic partnership with Denmark’s e-Boks. The platform will act as the official, secure channel for communication between government entities, private sector organisations and individual users across Oman. This initiative is part of the country’s ongoing efforts to accelerate digital transformation, enhance governance, strengthen data protection and contribute to building a more efficient and reliable digital economy, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The National Digital Mailbox enables individuals and businesses to receive and manage official communications digitally, including invoices, contracts, statements and notifications, through a single, trusted source. The platform is accessible 24/7 and ensures full legal recognition of all digital correspondence, offering a reliable alternative to traditional postal channels.
According to Sayyid Nasr bin Badr al Busaidy, Chief Postmaster General at Oman Post, the service is designed to provide faster and more secure delivery of government services, support companies in their communication needs and give individuals a verified digital mailbox to safely store important documents.
The platform also contributes to sustainability by reducing the use of paper, lowering administrative costs and accelerating transaction times. As part of the partnership, Oman Post and e-Boks will exchange knowledge, share expertise and build local capacity to ensure the platform’s resilience, compliance with international standards and readiness for future digital economy requirements.
Ulrik Falkner Thaysen, CEO of e-Boks, highlighted the company’s two decades of global experience in developing secure digital mailbox solutions, emphasising that the platform can be fully integrated with public and private sector systems across Oman.
This agreement sets new regional benchmarks for secure, user-focused digital mail services, reinforcing Oman’s commitment to digital innovation, economic diversification and national resilience. The National Digital Mailbox marks a major step towards a fully digital and sustainable future for communications in Oman. — (ONA)
