AMSTERDAM: The Royal Navy of Oman’s (RNO) vessel Shabab Oman II has won the Ambassadors of the Sea Award during its participation in the crew parade at Amsterdam Sailing Festival 2025, hosted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and lasts until Sunday.
The efforts made by Shabab Oman II’s crew culminated with winning this award in recognition of their remarkable military discipline during the parade and their display of authentic Omani clothing and folk music that captivated the audience and painted a dazzling picture depicting the depth and authenticity of the Omani heritage.
Princess Laurentien of the Dutch Royal Family visited Shabab Oman II while docked in the port of Amsterdam, reflecting the deep historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. During the visit, the princess toured the ship and learned about Oman’s rich maritime heritage and the ship’s noble mission of building bridges of friendship and peace between peoples. She expressed her admiration for the ship’s authentic Omani symbolism, combining ancient history with a modern spirit. She stressed that such visits strengthen the bonds of cooperation and friendship between the two friendly countries.
