Oman airports handle 6.9 million passengers by mid-2025

MUSCAT: The total number of passengers travelling through Oman’s airports — Muscat, Salalah, Suhar, and Duqm — reached around 6,921,569 by the end of June 2025, down 2.2 per cent from 7,074,913 in the same period of 2024, according to preliminary figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Muscat International Airport recorded 6,233,954 passengers by the end of June 2025, a 2.4 per cent drop from 6,384,874 last year. The number of flights through the airport fell by 6.9 per cent to 44,743, compared with 48,052 during the same period in 2024.
Salalah Airport, however, saw growth, handling 657,209 passengers by mid-2025, up 4.5 per cent from 628,951 last year. The total number of flights edged up 0.3 per cent to 4,526.
In contrast, Suhar Airport recorded a steep decline, with passenger numbers plummeting by 98.9 per cent to just 336, down from 31,203 last year. Flights also dropped 68.7 per cent to 84, compared with 268 in 2024.
Duqm Airport posted a slight 0.6 per cent rise in passenger numbers, reaching 30,070 compared with 29,885 in 2024, while the number of flights slipped 0.6 per cent to 306.
Indian nationals topped the list of passengers travelling through Muscat International Airport in June 2025, totalling 193,183, including 79,424 arrivals and 113,759 departures. Omanis came second with 135,093 passengers, followed by Pakistanis with 48,733. — ONA
