MUSCAT: The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) issued a ministerial decision outlining the start and end dates for rehabilitation programmes, assessment periods and holidays for the 2025/2026 academic year.
This applies to all government and private rehabilitation centres for persons with disabilities, as well as those affiliated with civil associations.
The decision aims to provide a comprehensive and integrated rehabilitative environment that ensures continuity and stability of services, supporting the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
The decision specifies that the 2025/2026 academic year for government rehabilitation centres — including the National Autism Centre, Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disability, Cerebral Palsy and Physical Disabilities Centre, Oman Down Syndrome Association, Al Wafa Centres for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities and rehabilitation units — will begin on Sunday, August 24, 2025 and end on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
For supervisors, rehabilitation staff, administrators and workers in these government centres, the first semester will start from Sunday, August 24, 2025, to Thursday, January 8, 2026. The second semester will commence on Sunday, January 25, 2026 and conclude on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
For private rehabilitation centres for persons with disabilities and rehabilitation centres affiliated with civil associations, the academic year will begin on Sunday, August 31, 2025 and end on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
For enrolled individuals in all government rehabilitation centres, private rehabilitation centres for persons with disabilities and centres affiliated with civil associations, the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year will start on Sunday, August 31, 2025 and end on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The second semester will begin on Sunday, January 25, 2026 and conclude on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The decision also includes 'dates for transfer and enrollment procedures for persons with disabilities in private rehabilitation centres'. The procedures for transferring persons with disabilities enrolled in private rehabilitation centres from one centre to another for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Monday, September 1, 2025 and end on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Furthermore, the assessment of individuals wishing to enroll in government centres and rehabilitation units will take place from Monday, January 6, 2026, to Thursday, February 7, 2026.
The decision outlines holiday dates as well. The first semester break for supervisors, rehabilitation staff, administrators and workers in all government, private and civil association-affiliated rehabilitation centres for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, January 11, 2026 and end on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The end-of-year holiday for enrolled individuals in all these centres for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, June 28, 2026 and end on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The end-of-year holiday for supervisors, rehabilitation staff, administrators and workers in government rehabilitation centres for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, July 5, 2026 and end on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Private rehabilitation centres for persons with disabilities and rehabilitation centres affiliated with civil associations may implement a summer programme for their enrolled cases during the end-of-year holiday. This programme will include rehabilitation and other programmes upon written request, provided it takes place between Sunday, June 28, 2026 and Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The decision also stipulated the dates for the 'First Family Guidance and Counseling Programme' for the 2025/2026 academic year, targeting parents of enrolled individuals in all government, private and civil association-affiliated rehabilitation centres, from Sunday, January 4, 2026, to Thursday, January 8, 2026. The 'Second Family Guidance and Counseling Programme' will run from Sunday, June 21, 2026, to Thursday, June 25, 2026. — ONA
