Progress of Oman Botanic Garden project reviewed
Oman Botanic Garden (OBG), located just around 35 km from Muscat International Airport, has been designed to represent the native flora in naturalistic habitats that reflect the rich botanical heritage of the region.

The garden features a wide range of attractions, showcasing Oman's diverse natural environments, native plants, and trees in one unified space. It is considered a strategic project that contributes to preserving Oman's unique plant biodiversity while raising public awareness of environmental conservation. The garden is also expected to play a key role in promoting eco-tourism and environmental education.
Once completed, the garden is expected to become one of Oman's most significant natural and cultural landmarks. He also commended the efforts of the project's teams and acknowledged the institutional partnerships between Muscat Municipality and other stakeholders in strengthening infrastructure for sustainability and environmental awareness initiatives.
Survey efforts at the site have led to the documentation and collection of hundreds of native plants, including the discovery of 20 species that are endemic to the Sultanate and found nowhere else in the world.
Muscat Municipality recently opened the 1.4 km dual road on Al Khoud Village Road, with two lanes in each direction and side pedestrian sidewalks, to ensure smooth traffic flow to the Oman Botanic Garden (OBG).
The project will cover a distance of 1.5km, linking the Special Tasks Force Roundabout to the Oman Botanic Garden roundabout.
The network of secondary roads includes smooth access to the garden, in addition to barrier railings, surface water drainage systems, and other facilities.

OBG will offer a cable car experience to visitors for the first time in the country. Other amenities will include open playgrounds, event spaces, and interactive areas. The garden demonstrates a sustainable approach in its design, construction, and operation.
The nursery in Oman Botanic Garden serves as the basis for work in the garden, supplying all required plants spread over an area of 20,000 sqm. It includes three covered glasshouses, four greenhouses, shade areas, and open areas.
