Inflation in Oman edges up to 0.82%

MUSCAT: Oman’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.82 per cent in June 2025 compared to June 2024, based on the 2018 base year, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The highest price increases were recorded in the personal goods and miscellaneous services group (up 7.45 per cent), transportation (up 3.12 per cent), and restaurants and hotels (up 1.39 per cent). The health group increased by 0.76 per cent, clothing and footwear by 0.6 per cent and education by 0.07 per cent.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose marginally by 0.02 per cent.
However, food and non-alcoholic beverages dropped by 0.59 per cent, furniture and household equipment fell by 0.25 per cent, culture and entertainment dipped 0.02 per cent, and tobacco declined by 0.01 per cent. Communication prices remained unchanged.
Within food categories, prices of sugar, jam, honey and sweets rose 3.31 per cent, dairy products increased 1.84 per cent, oils and fats climbed 1.65 per cent, and meat and cereals rose slightly.
However, vegetable prices fell by 8.06 per cent, seafood by 3.84 per cent, fruit by 0.45 per cent and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.19 per cent.
Among the governorates, Al Dakhiliyah recorded the highest inflation at 1.76 per cent, followed by Al Dhahirah (1.57 per cent), Al Sharqiyah South (1.4 per cent), Musandam (1.34 per cent) and Al Wusta (1.22 per cent). The lowest inflation was in Al Batinah South (0.1 per cent), while Al Sharqiyah North saw a slight decrease of 0.01 per cent. — ONA
