As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and protect consumer rights, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman is preparing to roll out a series of new initiatives and regulatory updates in the coming period.

Key among the upcoming developments is the introduction of a new regulation focused on billing system accuracy, aimed at ensuring fair and transparent invoicing by telecom operators. The move addresses longstanding consumer concerns about the accuracy of charges and seeks to reinforce trust in service providers.

In parallel, the Authority announced the imminent launch of its “Commercial Caller ID” project, which will require all corporate and institutional call centers to display their true identity when contacting customers. This includes revealing the name of the calling entity and the purpose of the call. The initiative is designed to curb anonymous or misleading commercial calls and strengthen trust in Oman’s digital communications environment.

A senior TRA official confirmed that these measures form part of the Authority’s broader strategy to modernize the telecom regulatory landscape in line with digital transformation goals, while safeguarding consumers and improving overall service transparency.
