The Hockey LeagueU-18 (Hockey5s) has officially commenced, featuring the participation of 14 clubs from various governorates across the Sultanate of Oman. The league targets the age group born in 2007 and is organised by the Oman Hockey Association as part of its efforts to broaden the game's base and promote competitive spirit among younger age groups.

The list of participating clubs includes Ahli Sidab, Seeb, Al Amerat, Ittihad, Salalah, Al Nasr, Al Salam, Al Nahda, Qurayat, Mirbat, Dhofar, Sohar, Masirah and Saham. The clubs have been divided into three main groups based on geographical distribution to ensure balanced competition and facilitate match scheduling.

The first group includes the clubs from Muscat Governorate: Ahli Sidab, Seeb, Qurayat, and Al Amerat. Matches for this group are held at the Oman Club Hockey Field in Al Amerat. The second group is designated for clubs from the Al Batinah North and Al Buraimi governorates and includes Al Salam, Saham, Al Nahda and Sohar, with matches played at the hockey field in the Sohar Sports Complex. The third group consists of clubs from Dhofar Governorate: Al Nasr, Salalah, Mirbat and Ittihad, and their matches take place at the hockey field in the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Salalah.

Each group plays in a single round-robin format, after which the overall standings are determined, followed by a playoff match between the top two teams in each group to decide the qualifying team.

Exciting Results on Day One of Group One Competitions:

The first day of group one competitions witnessed intense matchups, with four games played at the Oman Club Hockey Field in Al Amerat, yielding major results that highlighted the teams’ readiness and determination. Ahli Sidab began their campaign with a commanding 8–1 victory over Qurayat. Al Amerat followed with a well-earned 4–2 win against Seeb. Continuing their strong performance, Al Amerat defeated Qurayat once more with a score of 6–1. Ahli Sidab then closed the day with a dominant 6–0 win over Seeb.

With these outcomes, Ahli Sidab temporarily tops the group standings with two big wins and an impressive attacking display, closely followed by Al Amerat, who also have two wins. The upcoming matches will be crucial in determining the group leader and qualifier.

A Tournament that Strengthens the Youth Base for Hockey:

The U-18 Hockey League is considered one of the core championships upon which the Oman Hockey Association relies to scout emerging talent and build a new generation of players capable of representing the national teams in the future. These competitions also serve as an important platform for reinforcing sportsmanship and expanding the sport’s popularity across Oman’s governorates.
