MUSCAT: The 2025 Junior Hockey U-15 (Hockey5s) League kicked off on Friday, April 18, at the Al Amerat Club hockey field, in a competitive event attended by 17 clubs from various governorates across Oman. The league is designated for players born in 2010 and 2011.
The list of participating clubs includes: Ahli Sidab, Seeb, Oman, Ittihad, Salalah, Al Nasr, Al Salam, Al Nahda, Qurayat, Mirbat, Nizwa, Saham, Sohar, Al Amerat, Muscat, Masirah and Dhofar. The teams have been divided into three main groups based on geographic location.
The first day of the competition featured Group 1, which includes clubs from the Muscat and Al Dakhiliyah governorates. Ten teams were divided into two sub-groups: Ahli Sidab, Seeb, Nizwa, Oman, Qurayat, Al Amerat and Muscat. Matches for this group are being played at the Al Amerat Club hockey field.
The league adopts a single-round format within each subgroup. The top team of subgroup (A) plays the second-placed team of subgroup (B) and vice versa, to determine the finalists.

Regulations to Ensure a High-Quality and Safe Tournament
The Oman Hockey Association (OHA) established a set of technical and administrative regulations to ensure the tournament runs professionally and safely. Each team consists of 10 players (5 on the field and 5 substitutes). A maximum of two coaches are allowed outside the field during matches. Games are played in two halves of 10 minutes each, with a 5-minute break between halves. In the event of a draw, Article (39) of the competition regulations is applied. The rules prohibit dangerous individual skills such as the FLICK when players are positioned in front of the goal, to maintain participant safety. The Challenge play is permitted during penalty strokes under specific conditions. No player or official may participate without an official accreditation card from the federation and all participants must wear a standardised uniform and protective gear.
