The AI-forum aims to promote AI applications in education
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education launched the two-day Artificial Intelligence Experiences and Opportunities Forum in Learning Resource Centres, under the auspices of Hamad bin Khalfan al Rashidi, Adviser to the Minister for Administrative Affairs. The forum aimed to promote AI applications in education, explore the future of smart learning resource centres, and address the opportunities and challenges in this evolving landscape.
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming education, creating more interactive and engaging environments for students while empowering teachers with diverse tools and methods. Learning resource centres, as integral parts of the school ecosystem, are shifting from traditional spaces to tech-enhanced hubs for group and peer learning.
Ali bin Abdullah al Hinai, Assistant Director of Learning Resource Centres and Educational Aids at the Department of Educational Technology, stated: “The forum comes at a time when AI technologies are accelerating. We aim to harness them to improve educational outcomes and enhance the capabilities of teachers and learners alike.” Nawal al Balushi, a resource specialist at Zainab bint Abi Sufyan Basic Education School in Muscat Governorate, noted, “The forum enhances the role of learning centre specialists by developing their technical skills and promoting ethical and secure technology use in schools.”
She added that some centres are already implementing virtual and augmented reality tools, along with chatbots, to make learning more immersive and engaging.
