MUSCAT: Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group), the tourism investment arm of the Omani government, has unveiled the design of its exclusive Club Med Musandam Resort, currently in the early stages of development on the Musandam Peninsula.

The design reveal took place at the International Hospitality Investment Forum Middle East & Africa (IHFMEA) 2025, which commenced in Berlin on Monday, March 31, 2025.

Omran – part of Oman Investment Authority (OIA) – is participating in the 3-day forum, which has attracted tourism ministers, government officials, top executives from leading global hotel chains, as well as hotel owners, asset-managers, real-estate agents, consultants and designers.

Announcing the maiden spotlight on the project, the forum organisers said in a post: “This iconic project will offer a unique, all-inclusive luxury experience in one of Oman’s most stunning locations. It aims to strengthen the nation’s reputation as a leading destination for sustainable, upscale tourism while promoting it as a lively, year-round spot, appealing to a wide range of travellers.”

The unveiling comes just under a year since Omran signed a landmark agreement last May for the development of the Middle East’s first Club Med Resort in Oman. This exclusive resort, overlooking at the northeast of the Arabian Gulf, is a collaboration between Omran, Club Med, and Royal Court Affairs.

Located a short boat-ride from Khasab, the resort will add 300 distinctively outfitted rooms to Musandam’s rapidly expanding hospitality industry, which seeks to capitalize on the governorate’s breathtaking mountain vistas, plunging ravines, fjords and rich coastal settings.

Total investment in the project is estimated at over $100 million – a figure that promises to position Club Med Musandam Resort as the governorate’s most premium property. The Club Med brand is best known for offering unique holiday experiences around the world since 1950.

Not far from this location, Discover Collection - a newly launched global hotel brand that prides itself on revolutionizing luxury hospitality - is developing its flagship property at Ras Amud near Khasab. The 30-chalet property, named Discover Collection Ras Amud, is currently under construction at a stunning setting at Habalain village. Set on a promontory overlooking the tranquil waters of the Sea of the Oman, the resort will combine unmatched serenity and exceptional privacy to appeal to primarily celebrities and wealthy guests.

Complementing the growth of high-end tourism in Musandam, the Omani government is also investing in the governorate’s overall infrastructure development. Notable projects currently under implementation are the Dibba – Lima – Khasab road project, which will connect all three of the governorate’s biggest population centres, as well as Khasab Airport, Khasab Port, and fisheries harbours.

In the tourism sector, the government has allocated plots for development in Bukha, Madha and Dibba. Waterfront developments are also progressing at Khasab, Dibba, Buja and Lima.
