Tourism's contribution to GDP to be 3.5% by 2030

 
Muscat: The Majlis A'Shura is hosting the Minister of Heritage and Tourism to discuss the ministry's statement on six main topics, including policies, plans, and programs; overall tourism development indicators; heritage sector management; tourism sector management; human resources in the heritage and tourism sectors; and areas of coordination and development and investment prospects.

The minister stated that the tourism sector witnessed an increase in total tourism production from RO1.8 billion in 2019 to RO2 billion in 2023. The direct added value of tourism also increased from RO873 million in 2019 to RO1 billion in 2023.

Many indicators indicate that tourism's contribution to the GDP will reach 3.5% by 2030, supported by the volume of qualitative investments being implemented, which amount to approximately RO3 billion, in addition to qualitative investments being prepared in several governorates.

Regarding domestic tourism, local visitors rose from 10 mn in 2019 to 13 mn in 2023, with domestic tourism spending increasing from RO 732 mn to RO 830 mn.
