MUSCAT: Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, part of GCC’s leading integrated healthcare provider Aster DM Healthcare, has launched the Aster Al Raffah International Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre, marking a significant milestone in advancing oncology services in Oman.

As an integral part of the ‘Treat in Oman’ initiative, the centre aims to provide cutting-edge oncology services, including daycare chemotherapy, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment abroad. Equipped with advanced diagnostic capabilities and a multidisciplinary team of specialists, the facility offers comprehensive cancer care tailored to patients’ needs within Oman.

The inauguration was led by Dr Ahmed bin Salim al Mandhari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Organisation, alongside Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO, Aster DM Healthcare, Dr Sherbaz Bichu, CEO, Aster Hospitals and Clinics, UAE, Oman and Bahrain, and Shailesh Guntu, CEO, Aster Hospitals and Clinics, Oman, with esteemed officials from the Ministry of Health in attendance.

Dr Ahmed bin Salim al Mandhari praised the initiative, stating, “The establishment of this centre strengthens our healthcare infrastructure by ensuring access to specialised oncology services. With daycare chemotherapy now available locally, we are taking a significant step towards enhancing cancer care in Oman.” Alisha Moopen reaffirmed Aster’s vision for accessible and advanced treatment, noting, “Our goal has always been to bring world-class healthcare closer to our communities. The ‘Treat in Oman’ initiative ensures patients receive expert care in their home country, eliminating the need for international travel.” Dr Sherbaz highlighted the centre’s patient-centric approach, emphasising its holistic oncology services, including daycare chemotherapy and personalised treatment plans. “Cancer care is a journey that requires comprehensive support. We have launched ‘COSMOS’ — Circle of Strength, Master of Self— a community-based support group pairing patients with survivors, addressing both medical and psychological needs.”
