Al Khabourah hold Seeb to a hard-fought draw in OL

Seeb, the current leader of the Omantel League (OL), continued its inconsistent run of results after being held to a 1-1 draw against Al Khabourah on Tuesday. The match took place at Al Rustaq Sports Complex as part of the 15th round of the competition.
Seeb started the match by dominating possession and controlling the tempo, but struggled to create real threats on Al Khabourah’s goal. Meanwhile, Al Khabourah relied on quick counterattacks, aiming to exploit Seeb’s advanced positioning. Amir Alaa came close to giving Al Khabourah the lead in the 10th minute with a header that went just over the crossbar. His teammate, Al Faraj al Kiyoumi, wasted a golden opportunity in the 24th minute following a mistake by Seeb’s goalkeeper, Bilal al Balushi, but failed to capitalise on it.
Seeb suffered a major setback in the 30th minute when Eid Al-Faris received a second yellow card and was sent off after fouling Al Khabourah’s player, Etrini. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
Despite being a man down, Seeb began the second half with high pressing and successfully broke the deadlock in the 49th minute through Arshad al Alawi, who dribbled past defenders and fired the ball into Al Khabourah’s net. In response, Al Khabourah intensified its attacking efforts, continuously pushing forward in search of an equaliser. The breakthrough finally came in the 74th minute when Ahmed al Riyami capitalised on a long ball, finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper before slotting it home.
In the final minutes, Al Khabourah attempted to take advantage of its numerical superiority to snatch a winning goal, but Seeb’s defence held firm, ensuring the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Although Seeb increased its tally to 38 points, the team lost two crucial points in the title race against Al Nahda, who now trails by just three points. Meanwhile, Al Khabourah continued its impressive form, raising its total to 21 points and climbing to fourth place in the standings.
