Charity Golf Tournament strengthens community ties

Muscat: Positive Vision Association (PVA) successfully concluded its charity golf tournament on February 21, at Ras Al Hamra Golf Club. The event, organised in a texas scramble format at 2 pm. shotgun start, attracted 56 enthusiastic participants, reaching full capacity and even generating a waiting list due to high demand.
Players engaged in spirited competition, with the winning team awarded an annual membership at Dolphin Village, valued at OMR 400 per player. Prizes were also presented on nine holes, adding to the excitement. The event concluded with a gala dinner, live entertainment, a raffle draw featuring 30 prizes, and a charity auction, fostering a strong sense of community among attendees.
The primary objective of this tournament was to raise awareness and strengthen community engagement in support of individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and substance abuse, while advancing prevention and education efforts to reduce stigma in Oman. The event successfully raised over OMR 7,000, which will directly support PVA’s ongoing initiatives in public education, community outreach and support services for affected individuals and their families.
PVA President, Mrs Nashia Nasib, expressed gratitude to all participants, sponsors and volunteers, stating, “This tournament marks a significant milestone for PVA. The strong turnout and generous support reflect a growing commitment to addressing HIV/AIDS and substance abuse in Oman. We look forward to building on this initiative and strengthening partnerships in future events.”
The success of this event was made possible through the generous support of Renaissance Services, the tournament’s title sponsor, along with Special Technical Services (STS) as gold sponsors , MASIN Projects & Dolphin Village as silver sponsors and, Al Busaidy Mansoor Jamal & Co (AMJ), WJ Towell & Co LLC, and Oman Shapoorji LLC as bronze sponsors. Their contributions played a vital role in the event’s success.
Building on the momentum of this successful event, PVA remains committed to expanding its programmes and initiatives. Future projects include the launch of a dedicated support hotline for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and substance abuse in partnership with Omantel, as well as collaborations with local organisations to develop rehabilitation and reintegration programmes. The association continues to focus on creating a supportive environment, raising public awareness and reducing stigma through education and community-driven initiatives.
