‘Qimam’ Hackathon participants visit Majlis Ash'shura

MUSCAT: Participants of the ‘Qimam’ Hackathon visited Majlis Ash'shura to learn about its role in supporting youth initiatives, innovation and entrepreneurship. The visit provided an in-depth understanding of the Council’s legislative process, data-driven decision-making and its contribution to Oman Vision 2040.

During the session, the participants explored the Council’s mission, vision and authority, as well as its collaborative role with national institutions in shaping policy decisions. They were introduced to the workings of the Majlis Ash'shura office and permanent committees, gaining insight into the legislative cycle of draft laws and the mechanisms available for Council members to oversee government initiatives.

A key part of the visit included a tour of the deliberation hall, where they witnessed the use of modern technology in governance. They also visited the Oman Council Library, which provides research resources and electronic databases for those interested in legislative affairs.

The ‘Qimam’ Hackathon is a national initiative spearheaded by the Oman Investment Authority to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. It serves as a platform for young innovators and start-ups, presenting technical challenges and opportunities that align with corporate and industrial needs. The initiative also promotes economic decentralisation by empowering governorates with entrepreneurial solutions.

This interaction between Majlis Ash'shura and the hackathon participants highlights Oman’s commitment to nurturing innovation, supporting young entrepreneurs and strengthening public-private collaboration. - ONA
