Commerce minister reviews efforts to develop the business environment before the State Council

Muscat: The State Council on Monday hosted Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, to review the Ministry’s efforts to create a competitive business environment that enhances economic growth and diversification and enables the private sector.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, the Secretary-General of the State Council, under-secretaries and advisors of the ministry and a number of the council’s employees and specialists at the ministry.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General of the State Council welcomed the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, pointing out the importance of such meetings in enhancing cooperation between the State Council and the government institutions and to shed light on the programmes and initiatives implemented by the ministries as well as their goals and the challenges they face.
During the meeting, the Minister gave a visual presentation in which he reviewed the Ministry’s most prominent objectives and its efforts to improve the business environment to boost knowledge-based economy and enhance trade, industry and investment. The presentation also touched on the incentive policies and legislation that have been prepared to support competition and protect national products and industries in addition to the integrated services provided by the Ministry within the smart government system to achieve sustainable development.
The presentation also delved into the Oman Business Platform, the Industrial Strategy, the National Programme for Private Sector Development and the Oman Centre for Strategic Partnerships and Foreign Trade.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister listened to the opinions of the members of the State Council and answered their inquiries about the topics raised during the presentation.
