Scotland crowned 1st FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup

Scotland defeated Egypt 4-2 to clinch the first ever FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup 2 Oman 2025 crown in a thrilling final at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat on Sunday night. With the triumph, Scotland earned promotion to the FIH Hockey Nations Cup in 2026 as this event acted as a pathway to ascend to the FIH Hockey Nations Cup and through it ultimately to the FIH Hockey Pro League.



In the final, Scotland players managed to dominate the first half as they scored three goals taking the advantage of mistakes created at defending side of Egyptian team. WALKER Struan took the lead for this team as he netted the opener before end of first quarter. GOLDEN Jamie doubled the lead and made it 2-0 in the second quarter. WALKER Struan returned back again to hit the third goal prior end of the second quarter and make it 3-0. AUSTIN Thomas scored the fourth goal in the third quarter. Rajab Mahmood and LGANAINI Ahmed reduced the scoring gap as they netted the first and second goals for Egypt in the fourth quarter to make it 4-2 and the match ended with that result.



Earlier on the day, Poland earned the third spot following their victory over USA by 3-1 in penalty Shootout after the 2-2 draw in a tense encounter.

Chief guest for the final, Tayyab Ikram FIH President, delivered the trophy to the winners and medals to the runner-ups in the concluding ceremony. Dr Marwan bin Juma al Juma, Oman Hockey Association (OHA) Chairman, FIH officials and OHA board directors were present.

This event considered as a fresh opportunity for eight ambitious teams ranked below the teams playing in the FIH Hockey Nations Cup to make their mark on the international stage. The opening edition of the championship featured participation of eight teams distributed into two pools including pool A comprised from Egypt, Chile, China and Poland while pool B featured from the hosts Oman, Austria, Scotland and United States.
