MUSCAT: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI), represented by the Department of Incubators and Business Accelerators, in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University, launched the training camp for the Innovation Accelerator Initiative (Itlaq). The programme will run for six months.

During the opening ceremony, Iman bint Abdullah al Shukailiyah, Director of the Department of Incubators and Business Accelerators at the Ministry, delivered a keynote speech introducing the training camp, outlining the services it offers, its objectives and key expectations.

Following the speech, experts from the Sultan Qaboos University presented a visual briefing on their roles in the programme. This was followed by participating start-ups showcasing their ideas and projects.

The Itlaq Accelerator is an initiative by the MoHERI in partnership with the Sultan Qaboos University, aimed at empowering innovators and refining their skills during the research and development phase. The programme features an intensive six-month training camp designed to enhance participants' technical and commercial capabilities. This will accelerate the innovation development process, foster the creation of innovation-driven start-ups, introduce pioneering products to the market and bridge the gap between academia and industry.

The programme targets innovators, start-up founders seeking to enhance their products and develop their business models, and creative visionaries focused on transforming every product or service into an opportunity to revolutionise their industry. It offers flexible participation, allowing teams to attend training workshops both in-person and virtually.

Moreover, the accelerator provides participating start-ups with the opportunity to engage with a network of local and international experts, benefit from training courses and workshops, and connect with a broad range of investors, partners and entrepreneurs. This support will equip participants with the necessary skills and tools to scale their ventures, attract investment opportunities and successfully launch their products into the market.
