New camel racetrack to be established in Duqm

Muscat: The Special Economic Zone at al Duqm (SEZAD) signed on Tuesday a cooperation agreement with Vulcan Green Steel, a subsidiary of Jindal Shadeed Group, to finance the construction of camel racetrack in al Duqm. The facility will cover an area of 4.8 million square metres and span a track length of six kms, with an estimated investment of RO 350,000.
Under the agreement, the camel racetrack will be developed in accordance with the specifications set by the Oman Camel Racing Federation.
The project will feature side barriers made from either iron or aluminum, or a combination of both.
Additionally, seven starting gates will be installed as per the federation’s requirements.
The track will also include signage along the racecourse to indicate various distances, along with dedicated race observer towers equipped for event filming.
Furthermore, spectator stands and a VIP platform will be constructed to enhance the viewing experience.
Meanwhile, the agreement was signed on behalf of SEZAD by Eng Ahmed bin Ali Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, while Yousuf bin Sulaiman al Raisi, General Manager of Corporate Affairs at Vulcan Green Steel, represented the company.
