Kuwait SC revive hopes at Gulf Club Handball Championship

MUSCAT: Kuwait club tasted their first win at the 41st Gulf Club Handball Championship after their thrilling 34-22 win over Dibba Al Huson from UAE on Monday at indoor hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.

The win revived Kuwaiti team's hopes to progress into the second round after their defeat in the opening match against Al Arabi from Qatar by 34-33. On the other side, Dibba Al Huson received their second straight defeat after they lost against Oman Club by 29-26 in the opener.

Kuwait Club took control of the first half with an aggressive offensive strategy led by Saif al Adwani and Mohammed Radhei. Their relentless pressure prevented Dibba Al Huson from creating scoring opportunities, resulting in a significant lead. By half-time, Kuwait had established a 20-8 advantage.

In the second half, Dibba Al Huson fought hard to close the gap, with Mario De Jesus delivering an impressive performance. He helped his team reduce the deficit to 31-22, but Kuwait Club’s experience proved decisive. They maintained composure and secured a convincing 34-22 victory.



SEEB TAKE ON AL RAYYAN

Oman’s representative, Seeb club, will commence their campaign at the 41st Gulf Club Handball Championship against Qatar’s Al Rayyan club on Tuesday in Group A which also feature Al Noor club from Saudi Arabia. The match will kick off at 5 pm.

Seeb players took advantage of their rest period as they did not compete in the first two rounds. The team is in top condition after completing internal training sessions. This event marks Seeb’s fifth participation in the Gulf championship, with their best results being fourth place in 2008 and 2009.

With the tournament being held in Muscat, the Omani side hopes to put on a strong performance in front of their home fans.

On the other hand, Al Rayyan aim for a second straight victory, which would secure their place in the semifinals after their 31-26 win over Al Noor in the group opener.

Seeb’s head coach Nabil al Balushi and his assistant Ahmed al Hinai closely analysed Al Rayyan and Al Noor in their first match. The coaching staff has gathered valuable insights to help Seeb develop a tactical approach for their opening game.
