Nizwa and Ahli Sidab reach MoCSY Basketball semifinals

Nizwa and Ahli Sidab secured their spots in the semifinals of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) Basketball Shield Championship for the 2024-2025 season. Nizwa dominated Salalah with a score of 118-60, while Ahli Sidab triumphed over Al Nasr 70-38 in the matches hosted at the secondary hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

Nizwa overpowers Salalah with a sweeping victory

Nizwa entered their match against Salalah with strength, imposing full control over the game’s proceedings. They dominated all four quarters, sealing the match with a massive win. Leading Nizwa’s offensive charge were Mohammed al Anqoudi, Saif al Toubi, Abdulrahman al Sanani, Adam al Hinai and Musab al Wahaibi. On the other hand, Mishaal Kafkaf and Moheeb al Balushi stood out as Salalah’s key scorers. The first quarter saw Nizwa make a strong start, scoring 34 points against Salalah’s 13, signalling their intent to claim victory. In the second quarter, Nizwa continued their dominance, adding 35 points while Salalah managed 18, ending the first half with a comfortable lead of 69-31. The third quarter followed the same pattern, with Nizwa maintaining offensive pressure, scoring 22 points compared to Salalah’s 14, extending the lead to 91-45. In the final quarter, Nizwa kept up their commanding performance, netting 27 points while Salalah managed 15, sealing the match with an overwhelming score of 118-60.

The match was officiated by international referee Rashid al Mushaifri as the first referee, international referee Ahmed al Khasibi as the second referee and Ali al Salmani as the third referee. The scorer’s table was managed by Munira al Numani, Mousa al Siyabi and Juma al Hinai.

Ahli Sidab secures a semifinal spot with a solid performance against Al Nasr

In the second match, Ahli Sidab booked their place in the semifinals with a 70-38 victory over Al Nasr, dominating all four quarters. Leading the charge for Ahli Sidab were Hamyar al Hassani, Suhail al Busaidy and Sami al Ghailani, while Basim al Musallami and Abdulaziz al Balushi were the key scorers for Al Nasr.

The match began evenly in the first quarter, with Ahli Sidab securing a narrow one-point lead of 18-17. However, they extended their advantage in the second quarter, scoring 14 points against Al Nasr’s 9, finishing the first half ahead 32-26.

Ahli Sidab showcased clear superiority in the third quarter, excelling both defensively and offensively, conceding only 3 points while scoring 17, further stretching their lead to 49-29. They maintained their dominance in the final quarter, adding 21 points against Al Nasr’s 9, cementing their victory with a commanding 70-38 scoreline.

The match was officiated by international referee Issam al Siyabi as the first referee, Mazin al Hilali as the second referee and Taha al Ameri as the third referee. The scorer’s table was managed by Omaima al Hajri, Mahmoud al Ajmi and Fatima al Harthy.
