MUSCAT: Basketball fans in Oman will turn their attention this evening to the secondary hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, where Seeb and Al Bashayer clubs will face off in a crucial encounter to determine the champion of the 2024 2025 General Basketball League season. The match is set to kick off at 6:00 PM under the auspices of Dr Yahya bin Nasser al Khusaibi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, with the presence of ُEng Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi, Chairman of Oman Basketball Association.

A High Stakes Match Awaits Fans

This showdown promises to be a thrilling and intense battle between the two teams. Al Bashayer enters the game with a slight advantage after securing a one point victory in the first match of the finals, meaning they can claim the title with any win today. The team aims to settle the match in regulation time without the need for extra periods.



On the other hand, Seeb is determined to turn the tables and snatch the championship by winning with at least a two point margin. A one point victory would extend the game into extra time, as per the league's regulations. Both teams will rely on focus and hard work on the court to clinch the title, with Seeb aiming for their sixth championship, while Al Bashayer is striving for their fifth.

Seeb boasts a squad of talented players, including Marwan al Hadidi, Mazin al Hadidi, Noah al Amri, Kiel Jordan, Abdulrahman al Shoaibi, Ahmed al Maamari, Zakaria al Wahaibi, Al Waqas al Hinai, Romeo Wilfried, Moawia al Harthy, Hassan al Faraji, and Rashid al Zuhaibi, under the guidance of Tunisian coach Iskander al Naili, who aims to utilise their skills in the best possible way.

Al Bashayer, on the other hand, has prepared well for this encounter under Serbian coach Dragan Vaskanin. Their lineup features standout players such as Osama al Riyami, Mahmoud al Souli, Ahmed al Halhali, Slaven Kubkovic, Bassam al Busaidy, Noah al Mahrouqi, Saeed Hassan, Hadid Bait Bakhit, Saeed al Saadi, Samkelo Brian, and Mazin al Hadidi, all ready for the challenge.

Juma al Mahrami, the general supervisor of Seeb’s basketball team, confirmed his team’s full readiness for the match, stating: “We have delivered exceptional performances throughout the league, and our players are in peak form. We hope that their efforts, along with the technical and administrative staff, will be rewarded with the club’s sixth title.”



Meanwhile, Mahmoud bin Ali Amboali, the team manager of Al Bashayer, acknowledged the difficulty of the match, especially after their narrow one point victory in the first leg. He also noted some absences due to injuries but added: “Despite these challenges, we have great confidence in our players’ abilities and their determination to win the title.”

Nizwa Secures Third Place with Victory Over Ahli Sidab

In the third place decider, Nizwa clinched a 58-50 win over Ahli Sidab to secure the bronze medal in the championship. The match was fiercely contested, with Nizwa dominating the first two quarters, while the competition intensified in the third and fourth periods. The quarter scores were 17-5, 15-14, 10-12, and 16-19.

Notable performers for Nizwa included Hussein al Kindi, Ahassis Tounyon, and Mohammed al Anqoudi, while Ahli Sidab’s attack was led by Jilin Key, Hamyer al Hassani, Haitham Bani Araba, and Khalid al Hashemi.
