OFA concludes two major coaching courses

MUSCAT, Jan 30

As many as 29 domestic football coaches successfully completed the AFC Pro License Coaching Course in Muscat on Wednesday. The seven-stage course was organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in collaboration with the Oman Football Association (OFA) and featured a mix of theoretical and practical sessions aimed at enhancing coaching expertise.

The AFC Pro License Coaching Course, considered the highest coaching qualification in football, was conducted for the first time in Oman. The training was led by Fifa-approved international lecturer Nihad Sugar, alongside Omani assistant international trainer Ali al Khanbashi. The course focused on global best coaching practices and strategies for developing elite-level coaches.

The initiative was part of OFA’s technical development plan, which includes multiple upcoming courses aimed at improving Omani coaching standards.

Several high-profile Omani coaches participated in the course, including former national team coaches and club coaches like: Hamed al Azzani, Mabool al Balushi, Abdulaziz al Habsi, Waleed al Saadi, Anwar al Habsi, Ibrahim Somar and many other coaches. Their participation reflects a growing commitment to professional coaching development within the country.

In a parallel initiative, OFA also concluded a three-week Asian Coaching Course (Level B) at the Royal Guard Oman Sports Complex. The programme, attended by 25 coaches, was led by Akram Habreesh and Said al Raqadi. The Level B course is part of OFA’s ongoing technical development programmes, designed to provide advanced coaching methodologies and enhance grassroots and club-level coaching in Oman. The successful completion of both the AFC Pro License Course and the Level B Course highlights OFA’s commitment to developing high-quality football coaching. These programmes are expected to play a key role in enhancing Omani football standards at both the club and national levels.
