Shinas Winter Festival brings culture and entertainment together

The 'Shinas Winter' festival, organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in collaboration with the Governor's Office, in Al Batinah North Governorate, is set to run until tomorrow, January 27. The festival activities are being held at the Al Qurum Natural Park, offering a unique experience that combines entertainment and culture in a wonderful winter atmosphere.
The winter festival features a dynamic range of activities, catering to visitors of all ages. Some of the key highlights include the Bedouin Corner, celebrating desert traditions and the Marine Corner, which highlights Oman’s deep connection to the sea.
The event also showcases 27 entrepreneurial families presenting local products, along with the Youth Village hosting 15 initiatives in fine arts, culture, law and scientific innovations. The Crafts Corner offers traditional handcrafts, while the Children's Games Corner and Theatre promise fun and cultural enrichment for younger attendees. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of food truck options and informative awareness corners by government institutions.
With an expected attendance of 5,000 to 7,000 visitors, the festival seeks to enhance domestic tourism and boost regional hotel bookings. It also plays a key role in promoting Shinas’ cultural and natural heritage, offering a memorable winter experience.
Kholoud al Maamari, a administrative specialist from the Tourism Promotion Department, emphasised, 'Shinas Winter is part of our ongoing efforts to boost domestic tourism while supporting local enterprises and showcasing the talent of our youth.' The festival's diversity and inclusion of cultural, recreational and educational activities make it an event of significance for both Omani families and international visitors.
Attendee Khalid al Shehi praised the festival, stating, 'The atmosphere is fantastic, and the Youth Village is particularly impressive with its innovation corner and fine arts displays.' He also highlighted the engaging children's activities and the well-organised layout, noting how easy it was to move between areas and enjoy the variety of experiences.
