Bulgarian President thanks HM for Galaxy crew release

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has received a written message from President Rumen Radev of the Republic of Bulgaria. The message deals with bilateral relations between Oman and Bulgaria.

It was handed over to Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister when he received Georg Georgiev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in his office on Thursday

The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations and means of promoting them in various areas.

During the meeting, the Bulgarian Minister expressed his country's appreciation for the humanitarian and diplomatic role of the Sultanate of Oman in backing the issues of peace and regional stability. He also lauded Oman’s positive initiatives, the latest of which was its efforts to secure the release of the crew of Galaxy Leader ship, which included a number of Bulgarian citizens.

On his turn, Sayyid Badr underlined the key role of diplomacy based on dialogue and mutual trust in promoting regional and international stability. He pointed out “The Sultanate of Oman believes that effective dialogue and constructive diplomacy are the most effective means of achieving peace and enhancing understanding between countries and peoples”.

The two ministers discussed the regional and international developments and exchanged views on their regard. They affirmed that Oman and Bulgaria share the same stance that calls for the adoption of peaceful solutions to address issues and conflicts, in a manner that contributes to maintain security and stability and spreading the values ​​of harmony among countries and peoples.

The meeting was attended by some officials from both sides.

In a separate statement to ONA, Georgiev praised the efforts made by Oman to secure the release of its citizens who were among the crew of Galaxy Leader. He expressed the appreciation of the Bulgarian government, people and state institutions for the support and positive attitude during the whole process. He affirmed that this initiative is a pure sign not only as a cooperation and diplomatic efforts, but also as a deep sign of friendship between Oman and Bulgaria.
