Development projects in Wilayat of Sur reviewed

Dr Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, Governor of Al Sharqiyah South, toured the Wilayat of Sur on Tuesday to follow up on the implementation of development projects in the wilayat. He was accompanied on the tour by Eng Badr bin Salim al Maamari, Secretary-General of the Tender Board; Eng Khamis bin Mohammed al Shammakhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport; the Wali of Sur; and other officials. The tour reviewed various stages of the projects and the challenges facing their implementation. Among the sites visited was the Al Sharqiyah Expressway Project, which is one of the strategic road projects to enhance economic and social development in the region. Governor Dr Al Maawali said, “These projects come within the government’s efforts to enhance sustainable development and improve the quality of life for citizens. We are committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the completion of these projects according to the highest quality standards and on time.” According to Al Maamari, “The development projects in the Wilayat of Sur reflect the government’s keenness to develop the infrastructure in a way that contributes to achieving economic and social development. We are working to ensure the provision of the necessary resources and overcome the obstacles that may face the implementation of these projects.” MoTCIT official Al Shammakhi said that “the Al Sharqiyah Expressway Project represents a qualitative addition to the road network in the Sultanate of Oman, as it will facilitate traffic and enhance communication between the wilayats of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate.”
On the sidelines of the tour, a number of citizens gave their feedback on the development projects taking place in Sur. Ahmed bin Saeed said: “We are proud of the projects being implemented in our wilayat, and we hope that they will contribute to improving the level of services and providing job opportunities for the people of the Wilayat.” Maryam al Hatroushi, another resident, said: “The Eastern Expressway Project will have a positive impact on our daily lives, as it will reduce the time spent in transportation and increase development opportunities in the region.”
