Visitors at the Global Village in Qurum Park explore a world of culture, food, and entertainment from around the globe
The Global Village at Muscat Nights is creating a cultural fusion like never before, with over two dozen countries coming together under one roof to showcase their traditions and practices. From the bustling streets of Oman, the host country, to Zanzibar, Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, India, Sri Lanka, Egypt, and more, this vibrant space in Al Qurum Natural Park is becoming a melting pot for cultures, engaging visitors from around the world.
Gastronomic delights
One of the most exciting aspects of the Global Village is the food. With culinary traditions from each participating country, this is a place where visitors can taste the flavours of the world. From savory starters to mouthwatering snacks and desserts, the Global Village food courts offer a gastronomic journey through the world’s diverse cuisines. This vast area in Al Qurum Natural Park is brimming with food stalls from nearly every corner of the globe, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge their taste buds while exploring the cultures of distant lands.
The Global Village is more than just a food festival. It’s an immersive experience that combines entertainment, activities and international performances. The annual gala, which began on December 23, continues to bring the world to Muscat in a celebration of culture and tradition. The third week of Muscat Nights is already witnessing a surge in footfall, with families and tourists gathering to explore the sights and sounds of this unique cultural fusion.
“This is the first time that we are visiting the Global Village in Oman and we are thrilled to see diverse cultures and foods at each country’s counter,” said one foreign visitor. “It’s a special time for our family, as we meet Omani friends and relatives who live abroad. We’ll definitely make it an annual tradition.”
Adding an educational element to the festivities, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has set up a mobile campaign at the festival grounds. This initiative aims to educate both children and adults on the dangers of drugs and narcotic products. The positive response from the children has been encouraging, with many pledging not to experiment with harmful substances after learning about their dangers.
“The Global Village is worth a visit for its myriad displays of global cultures merging with local traditions,” said Indu Baburaj, a local visitor who came with her family. “It’s truly a cultural feast for the senses.”
The Muscat Festival, in its entirety, offers a diverse range of activities, programmes and performances, ensuring that there is something for everyone. From amusement rides and live performances to educational workshops, the festival caters to the interests of all visitors, making it a ‘complete family festival.’
Zubair Mahin, representing Zumus Foods and Catering, emphasised the importance of encouraging more visitors to explore the international food offerings at the pavilions. “We want visitors to experience the rich cultural heritage through the foods offered at the Global Village. It’s an experience that blends tradition with innovation.”
Muscat Nights also brings world-class entertainment to the stage. On Friday, the Global Village hosted a special performance by Keerthana Nair, a talented Kathak danseuse who has chosen Oman as her home. Her performance, featured the intricate movements and rhythms of Kathak dance, was a highlight of the festival. Keerthana captivated the audience with her graceful Tatkar, Tora, Tukra, Abhinaya and Mudras at the Global Village stage.
With its mix of cultural showcases, international cuisine and family-friendly activities, the Global Village continues to be one of the most exciting attractions at the Muscat Nights. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, this unique event offers an unforgettable experience that brings the world together in one place.
