International Medical conference on liver transplant held

MUSCAT: Muscat Family Physicians’ Group and Global treatment Services, organised an International Medical Conference on “Pre and Post-operative care of Liver Transplant recipient and the donor” on Tuesday, at Intercity Hotel, Muscat.
Dr Noorien Head Organ Transplant, Dr Badariya HB and pancreatic surgeon, Dr Sulaiman al Maamari HB Surgeon, Dr Ahmed al Busaidy HB Surgeon were Guests of Honour. The topic and timing of the CME was contemporary, since liver transplant activity in the Sultanate of Oman has picked up in recent months. Doctors from the Royal Hospital and the Military Hospital, which are front runners in liver transplant, attended the scientific session. The keynote speaker was Dr Dharmesh Kapoor, Consultant Physician — liver transplant from Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, India.
He elaborated the critical care required for both recipient and the donor of Liver transplant in both Pre and Post-operative period and how this care affects the outcome.
There was a clinical interaction between the speaker, Guests of Honour and other participating doctors. There was a thoughtful discussion with policy makers, as to how one could take the transplant activity to the next level in Oman. Ways and means to enhance deceased donation in the Sultanate of Oman were also discussed. The meeting concluded with the Yashoda group ensuring unflinching support to liver transplant activity in the Sultanate of Oman, in every possible way. The meeting was attended by over 50 practicing doctors of Muscat Oman which included HB surgeons, Hepatologist, Gastroenterologist , Gen Surgeons , Paed Surgeons, Anesthetists, Internists, A&E specialists and Family Physicians.
