The event also emphasised the need to foster collaboration between academic institutions and executive bodies to exchange expertise and enhance social care policies. By aligning with Oman Vision 2040, the conference aimed to integrate social care strategies into sustainable development frameworks, ensuring meaningful contributions to societal well-being.
Dr Wafa al Maamari, Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work and Chair of the Conference, reflected on the critical role of social care in achieving sustainable development. “Social care policies form the foundation for social development plans that improve the quality of life for individuals and communities. Regular reviews of these policies are essential to address changing global dynamics and to ensure social security and political stability,” she stated.
The conference further explored international, regional and Arab experiences in social care policies, while emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary studies. It highlighted the link between environmental studies and climate justice in achieving sustainable development goals, reinforcing the necessity of integrating social work into broader developmental objectives.
The event concluded with a strong focus on generating actionable recommendations to benefit both the Omani and global communities. It sought to inspire a sense of responsibility and raise awareness about the vital role of social care in achieving sustainable development, ultimately contributing to a brighter and more equitable future for all.
