MUSCAT: Under the auspices of Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance (MoF), the eighth edition of the “ICAO Security Week 2024 and High-Level Ministerial Meeting” commenced at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by the Sultanate of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the four-day event runs from December 9 to 12, 2024, bringing together over 600 officials, ministers and civil aviation experts from across the globe.
The conference, held for the first time outside ICAO’s headquarters in Montreal, focuses on strengthening global aviation security. He highlighted Oman’s advancements in aviation security, citing robust infrastructure, skilled local talent and regulatory frameworks aligned with global standards. “Oman has become a regional and international leader in aviation security, ensuring the safety of passengers and stability of international airspace,” he added.
Al Abri also announced a high-level ministerial dialogue aimed at defining the global aviation security road map through the “High-Level Ministerial Declaration on Aviation Security and Cybersecurity.”
