MUSCAT: The Oman national football team will take on Yemen in a friendly match at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on December 16. This match will serve as a preparatory game for the Red Warriors ahead of their assignment at the 26th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup 'Gulf 26' which will be staged in Kuwait during December 21 to January 3.



The Red Warriors recently concluded a five-day training camp in Muscat focusing on both physical and technical aspects of the game. The camp served as an opportunity for players to prove their readiness for selection in the final squad. The technical staff, led by head coach Rasheed Jaber, is expected to announce the roster soon, with standout performers from the camp likely earning spots for the Gulf 26 tournament. The last preparatory camp featured participation of new faces from Oman’s Olympic and Under-20 teams who impressed with their performances and could be pivotal in the upcoming games.



Oman were drawn into Group A alongside the hosts Kuwait, Qatar and UAE while defending champions Iraq will compete in Group B with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen. Oman’s campaign will begin against Kuwait in the opening match on December 21 while they will meet Qatar in the following match on December 24. They will conclude group stage games against the UAE on December 27.
