Regional forum to promote innovation of SPF
Muscat: The Social Protection Fund (SPF) will participate in the Asia-Pacific Regional Social Security Forum, organised by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) in cooperation with the General Organization for Social Insurance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the capital, Riyadh, from December 3 to 5.
The forum will see wide participation from ISSA member institutions, regional and international organisations, and prominent speakers discussing the most prominent challenges and innovative solutions for social security in the region.
The forum is a strategic platform for the Social Protection Fund to review its achievements and recent reforms in the field of social protection in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Fund explained in the working papers presented that the social protection system in the Sultanate of Oman aligns with global best practices, ensuring comprehensive coverage of social risks and linking to employment and empowerment policies, as well as the rights of women, children, and people with disabilities.
It also mentioned ongoing coordination between the Fund and civil society institutions to achieve a comprehensive and just system, aligning with sustainable development goals and enhancing social stability.
The forum aims to enhance the exchange of experiences between participants from different countries and review good practices to address social security challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.
Social protection is a key focus of strategies aimed at achieving social and economic progress in the Asia-Pacific region. With the challenges posed by volatile economic conditions and a changing labour market, social security departments seek to adopt innovative solutions to enhance the sustainability of benefits, expand coverage, and improve the quality of services to meet the needs of different communities.
