Finance ministry reviews 2025 draft budget at the State Council

 
Muscat: The State Council hosted Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance at a regular meeting held under the chairmanship of Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili to discuss the draft state general budget for the fiscal year 2025, on Sunday.



The meeting discussed the developments in the local economy for the year 2024 as well as the growth indicators at all sectors of economic diversification.

The under-secretary of the Ministry of Finance gave a presentation in which he reviewed the financial and economic indicators and the efforts undertaken by the government to improve them, the credit rating of the Sultanate of Oman, the expected outcome of the state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2024, the estimates of the draft state general budget for the fiscal year 2025 and the development of public debt.



The under-secretary of the Ministry of Finance reviewed the social objectives of the state’s general budget for the year 2025 namely providing insurance coverage and fair social protection for various society segments, maintaining the level of basic social services provided by the government such as health, education and other services, supporting urban movement and providing the opportunity for a greater number of citizens to own houses and sustaining the government’s National Employment Programme.



Today, the State Council will hold its second meeting for the second regular session of the eighth term, under the chairmanship of Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council.

The council will discuss the visions of the Technology and Innovation Committee on the Draft Electronic Transactions Law, the opinion of the Social and Cultural Committee on the Draft Public Health Law and the Draft Law on regulating the transfer and transplantation of human organs and tissues, and the opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee on the draft financial law referred by the Council of Ministers. The session will also review the report of the Secretariat- General on the activities of the State Council.
