MUSCAT: The Oman Manufacturers Association, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, on Monday organised a knowledge seminar on exporting to the European Union, at the Invest Oman hall in the Civil Aviation Building at the Airport Heights.

The event was sponsored by Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, with the participation of a group of experts and diplomats.

The seminar aimed to help Omani companies enter European markets and understand their requirements, which would enhance the national economy and strengthen trade relations between the Sultanate of Oman and European countries. The seminar discussions revolved around European legislation, the latest manufacturing technologies, and industrial culture, with a visual presentation entitled 'Connecting Oman and Europe: Sohar as a Gateway to Sustainable Trade', presented by Emil Hoogsteden, CEO of Sohar Port.

Lubna al Wahaibi, CEO of Siemens, presented a comprehensive view on exporting Omani products to Europe, with a focus on the role of women in the manufacturing sector, while Graham Conlon, Partner at CMS, gave a detailed presentation on the legal and tax aspects of setting up businesses in Europe.

The seminar was attended by a number of European ambassadors accredited to the Sultanate of Oman, and Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. — ONA
