SUHAR: Sohar University (SU) commenced its Annual Staff Development Programme for the academic year 2024/2025 on September 2. The programme will run until September 8, aiming to professionally develop all university staff, including administrative, academic, and new joiners.

This event serves as a valuable opportunity to bring together staff from all levels and is a key initiative in enhancing the skills and competencies of SU's employees.

The Staff Development Week began with a speech by Dr Hamdan al Fazari, the University Vice-Chancellor. The event included the recognition of recipients of the VC Outstanding Achievement Award and the VC Outstanding Teaching Award for the academic year 2023/24, as well as long-serving staff members who have completed 10 and 20 years of service at the University. Special recognition was also given to the SU Journal team for their successful publication of the 2nd edition, and to the QS working Team for their dedicate d efforts in supporting SU’s QS file.

The programme continued with a presentation by Mohammed al Braiki, Head of HSE, on HSE matters, followed by a speech from Dr Ali al Hassnawi, Director of QA, Planning & Accreditation Department, discussing the university’s readiness for institutional re-accreditation.

Throughout the Staff Development Week, various training activities, workshops, and lectures will be offered to all employees, both in academic and administrative roles. A comprehensive induction programme will also be provided for new staff joining the university.

Notably, the 7th Teaching and Learning Conference is scheduled to be held on September 5, 2024, as part of this year's Staff Development Week.

Maryam al Amri, Director of Human Resources, emphasised the importance of the annual staff development week in enhancing staff skills at all levels. She highlighted the opportunities for staff to engage in activities, network with colleagues, and emphasised that investing in staff development is crucial for the university's success.
