Omani delegation in India for FTA preparations

MUMBAI: An Omani delegation led by Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, visited the Republic of India to prepare for the Free Trade Agreement between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India.
The minister met with Piyush Goyal, Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry. They discussed ways of enhancing joint cooperation and fostering bilateral relations in the fields of trade, industry and investment promotion between the two friendly countries.
They also reviewed a number of topics of common interest to enhance relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India, explore investment opportunities for cooperation in various sectors and discussed the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two friendly countries.
The delegation met with a number of Indian firms operating in the fields of film-making, arts, cultural arts, content creation and event organisation. They reviewed topics related to investment, tourism and economy in the Sultanate of Oman as well as the incentives provided by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion to investors.
The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, has made many achievements in the fields of investment, logistics and digital transformation and in facilitating investments by updating the legislative system and infrastructure projects to keep pace with international investment developments, noting that his visit to India will bring about benefits for both sides.
The accompanying delegation comprised Pankaj Khimji, Adviser for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. — ONA
