When envisioning Al Ain, many may think of capturing selfies atop Jebel Hafit, encountering giraffes at the renowned Al Ain Zoo, or exploring the historic Qasr Al Muwaiji. A new campaign by Experience Abu Dhabi unveils these attractions and more, inviting audiences on a journey to discover the rich history, vibrant attractions, and hidden gems of the Living Oasis city, Al Ain—a destination awaiting exploration with friends and family.
This four-part documentary-style campaign immerses viewers in the heart of Al Ain, highlighting the city and surrounding region's cultural richness, adventurous spirit, and deep-rooted traditions. From ancient forts and verdant oases to exhilarating outdoor activities and bustling local life, the series follows two Emirati friends as they uncover Al Ain’s diverse experiences, leaving audiences eager for more.
The campaign features Emirati corporate banker-turned-photographer Obaid AlBudoor and Salem Al Attas, an engineer by profession and the first Emirati slam poet by night. Together, they traverse Al Ain, mastering traditional skills like archery and horseback riding while embracing modern, adrenaline-pumping activities that push them beyond their comfort zones.
Located just over an hour from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Al Ain has been inhabited for over 5,000 years. The city is rich in archaeological sites, restored forts, and ancient human settlements, which have fostered crafts and traditions that endure to this day.
During their time in Al Ain, Obaid and Salem discover that this living oasis offers a serene escape from the bustle of city life, blending adventure, nature, history, and culture into one extraordinary destination. The duo explores Al Ain’s vast oasis of lush date palms, uncovers secret underground rivers nourished by natural mountain springs, delves into the city’s proud heritage, and enjoys the warm hospitality of its residents.
“As a photographer, traveler, and explorer, it’s incredibly rewarding to escape the daily grind and recharge my creative energy in such a tranquil and lush environment,” said Obaid. “Al Ain’s unique energy left a lasting impression on me.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed discovering Al Ain, and I hope that those who follow our adventures—whether white-water rafting, exploring local crafts, immersing in Al Ain’s vibrant café culture, or experiencing its myriad offerings—are inspired to visit and create their own unforgettable memories in this remarkable destination,” added Salem.
The documentary series 'Al Ain: A Living Oasis' premiered on August 19, 2024. Watch it here: https://visitalain.ae/en/campaign/al-ain-living-oasis.
