SALALAH: The Gulf Student Forum for Financial Culture commenced on Monday at Rotana Resort Salalah, under the theme ‘Towards Building a Financial Culture for School Students.’
Organised by the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, the five-day event aims to instill financial literacy principles among school students across the Gulf region.
Dr Haifa bint Ahmed Al Maamari, Director of the Financial Literacy Inculcation Project (Khazna), emphasised the forum's strategic importance in equipping the next generation with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate financial challenges effectively.
She highlighted the urgency of enhancing financial awareness among students to achieve financial stability and personal success in a rapidly evolving economic landscape.
The forum's first day featured two working sessions focusing on the ‘Concepts of Financial Culture,’ exploring intellectual methods, habits, and standards in the field of financial knowledge. The forum includes practical applications in financial projects, aiming to enhance students' cognitive awareness of financial culture, exchange experiences, and foster positive financial behaviors.
The event is part of a broader project consisting of 19 diverse programmes, including guides, documents, training, and awareness activities, designed to build students' capabilities and readiness for life and the evolving labour market. – ONA
