TAQAH: The ‘Taqah Wilayat Activities’ commenced on Thursday as part of the Khareef Dhofar Season, organised by the Taqah Wali Office, and runs until August 15.

Shaikh Tariq bin Khalid al Hinai, Wali of Taqah, said in an interview with ONA: “The events represent an opportunity to highlight the cultural, social and economic heritage of the wilayat. This also aims to enhance sustainable development through several activities as they contribute to enhancing local tourism, attracting visitors from Oman and abroad, supporting local economy and increasing commercial activity.”

The wali explained that the events provide a platform to support productive families by selling their handmade, agricultural, craft and traditional food products, enabling families to achieve additional income and fostering a spirit of work and innovation within the community.

He also mentioned that the events would create new job opportunities for young people through various activities organised on the sidelines, whether temporary job opportunities during the event period or permanent opportunities through projects launched by participating institutions and companies.

The activities are held across several locations, including the main Al Farda Theatre, Al Maidan Square, Al Farda Circular Theatre, as well as the coastal Telematch Village, the Games Village and Festival Square.

The event lineup features a variety of cultural and entertainment activities.

Additionally, there will be a beach games segment, an electric games field, and several exhibitions including the Productive Families Exhibition, the Consumer Exhibition, the Heritage Exhibition, and an evening artistic concert at the main Al Farda Theatre. — ONA
