SALALAH: The 'Summer of Ambitions and Values' programme for school students kicked off on Sunday at the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate. This initiative, organized by the Directorate in collaboration with Dhofar Municipality, will run until August 1.

Over 325 students from various schools across the governorate are participating in the program, which is supervised by a team of educators and administrators. The activities are hosted at five summer centres: Dhofar Centre for Boys, Osama bin Zaid Centre for Boys, Manbaa Al Hikma Centre for Girls, Al Noor Centre for Girls, and Durrat Dhofar Centre for Girls.

Dr Maizoon bint Bakhit Al Shahari, Acting Director General of the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar, highlighted that the programme aligns with the Ministry of Education's efforts to provide students with new skills and valuable knowledge. It aims to nurture students' talents, guide them toward personal growth, and enhance their learning values.

The programme features a range of innovative activities designed to engage the current generation, including social, voluntary, artistic, cultural, literary, media, and sports events.

These activities are intended to develop students' skills, expand their knowledge, and complement the cultural, scientific, and entertainment events coinciding with the Dhofar Autumn tourism season.

The summer programme focuses on using students' free time productively, broadening their horizons, and developing their cognitive, scientific, intellectual, artistic, and life skills. It also aims to instill moral and social values, strengthen national identity, and introduce students to various institutions, facilities, and tourist destinations within the Sultanate of Oman. — ONA
