MUSCAT: The total mobile phone subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 3.1 per cent by the end of March 2024, reaching 7,201,500 subscriptions, compared to 6,842,8000 subscriptions in the same period in 2023.

The report issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority stated that this growth was accompanied by an increase in the penetration rate among the total population by 4.13 per cent, an increase in the average usage per subscription by 4.19 per cent, and an increase in the average revenue per subscription by 1.77 per cent.

Total mobile broadband subscriptions decreased by the end of last March by 1.41 per cent, accompanied by a decrease in average usage per subscription by 7.60 per cent and a decrease in average revenue per subscription by 1.56 per cent.

As for fixed telephone, total subscriptions increased by 3.03 per cent to reach 596,809 subscriptions compared to 562,419 subscriptions, while average usage per subscription decreased by 11.16 per cent and average revenue per subscription decreased by 5.98 per cent.

Total subscriptions for fixed broadband also increased by the end of the first quarter of this year by 1.86 per cent, reaching 572,450 subscriptions, compared to 539,334 subscriptions in the same period in 2023, accompanied by a decrease in the average usage per subscription by 0.68 per cent, while the average revenue per subscription increased by 0.87 per cent.

Regarding international calls, the report indicated that the total international minutes issued witnessed by the end of the first quarter of 2024 an increase of 6.03 per cent, and the average revenue per minute by mobile phone decreased by 7.76 per cent, while the average revenue per minute by fixed phone also decreased by 10.32 per cent. — ONA
