MoI kicks off Khareef Dhofar media coverage today

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Information today begins broadcasting its varied media programmes associated with the Khareef Dhofar Tourism Season 2024. The programmes include a package of radio and television shows, news and press reports as well as dedicated social media content all of which are taking new innovative shape this year.
Dr Mohammed bin Said al Shasha’i, Director-General of Media in Dhofar Governorate, said that all preparations and arrangements have been completed to launch the comprehensive media coverage for Khareef Dhofar Season 2024, noting that the media coverage plan for this year’s season aims to monitor the tourism events and incorporating them into the Omani culture, the characteristics of the place and the cultural and civilizational richness.
Al Shasha’i added that the Sultanate of Oman TV has completed its preparations to launch the People and Khareef programme which won the gold award at the GCC Radio and Television Festival which was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2023. He noted that media professionals from the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC countries will take part in the programme to convey the events of the Khareef Dhofar season and its tourist, heritage and cultural sites to the world.
The Khareef Nights show will make a comeback after a long hiatus as Oman Cultural Channel will be monitoring all activities and events held in various venues. In addition, Athir Al Khareef Radio programme will have a daily live broadcast of all the activities and events of Khareef Dhofar. The programme will broadcast from 5 am to 7 pm.
The Khareef and Youth radio programme broadcast by Al Shabab Radio will follow the events and activities in a manner that suits different tastes and age groups. It is a daily live programme that moves from one location to another within Dhofar Governorate allowing the listeners to express their opinions for two hours from 2 pm to 4 pm. Since the astronomical beginning of Dhofar season on June 21, the Oman News Agency and Oman newspaper began diverse media coverage of the Khareef Dhofar events, the official said.
In addition, the Ain platform will also be closely covering the events and activities taking place at different venues of Khareef Dhofar through its radio and television programmes on its social media accounts.
