Oman wraps up cultural programme at Seoul Book Fair

A session on feminist literature that depicts the daily life of women in Oman and South Korea was also held
SEOUL: The cultural programme of the Sultanate of Oman concluded at Seoul International Book Fair 2024 in South Korea, on Saturday.
The cultural programme included dialogue sessions the first of which entitled 'Omani-Korean Relations 50 Years of Rapprochement and Joint Work’, presented by Dr Mohammed bin Khalfan al Yahyaei from the Omani side, and Dr Hee Soo Lee from Hanyang University in South Korea from the Korean side. He is the author of the book 'The Sultanate of Oman: Historical Cooperation and Friendship with the Republic of Korea' which was translated into Arabic to mark the 50th anniversary of the Omani-Korean diplomatic relations.
The second session dealt with the feminist literature that depicts the daily life of women in the Sultanate of Oman and South Korea with the participation of Omani novelist Jokha al Harthy and Korean novelist Eun Hee Kyung.
The Omani cultural programme also saw the presentation of a working paper entitled ‘The Reality of Translation in the Sultanate of Oman and Possible Prospects for Cooperation between the Arabic and Korean Languages’ presented by Dr Hilal bin Said al Hajri in the presence of a number of intellectuals, writers, authors and stakeholders from South Korea.
The Omani pavilion at the Seoul International Book Fair witnessed the signing of the novel Celestial Bodies written by the Omani novelist Jokha al Harthy, and translated into the Korean language following its publication in the Korean capital, Seoul. — ONA
