Oman, Tunisia discuss cooperation in women and family empowerment

TUNISIA: Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najar, Minister of Social Development, met with Amal Belhaj Moussa, Minister of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly of the Republic of Tunisia, on Saturday.

They discussed topics of common concern and ways of exchanging expertise in matters related to supporting and empowering the family. The two sides also discussed topics related to the childhood and elderly segments as well as women’s empowerment programmes which reflect in the development of society and the advancement of its various segments.



The minister of social development also visited the Sadiq Idris Centre for Elderly Care and learned about its facilities and departments.

The minister learned about the centre’s experience in caring for the elderly through various programmes, activities and services provided to them. The minister visited the International Centre for the Advancement of Persons with Disabilities, which is concerned with implementing specialised education programmes that target persons with disabilities who are unable to integrate into school.

The minister also visited the Centre for Research, Documentation and Information on Women (CREDIF), and learned about its work in promoting women’s rights and supporting their presence in public, political, economic, social and cultural life. — ONA
