NIZWA: A forum to decide rankings and categories for Omani universities kicked off on Thursday at the University of Nizwa.

The forum brings together heads of public and private universities and colleges from Oman and representatives of academic institutions from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Pakistan. The forum is also attended by representatives of the international comparative data institution, 'World University Ranking Index of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)'.

Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, who was the chief guest at the opening of the forum, said in a speech that the event highlights opportunities, as well as challenges facing Omani higher education institutions keen on accessing regional and international ranking indicators. - ONA
