A'RUSTAQ: In a unique case of its kind, the Paediatric Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Department at A’Rustaq Hospital, South Al Batinah Governorate, succeeded in diagnosing bleeding in one of the veins lining the gastric wall of a 9-year-old child.

Dr Tawfiq al Lawati, Senior Consultant Paediatrics Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases, said that occurrence of such bleeding is rare in children. He explained the patient was brought to hospital vomiting frank red blood, prompting the operating team to conduct the surgery.
